Long Day

It was a long day today with the drive to Fort Worth. We started early and I'm relieved to finally be in bed so I can relax. We got up around 6 to get ready and eat breakfast before we left. It was around 1:30 when we finally arrived and my parents signed all the paperwork to close on the house. Afterwards we headed over to the new house and I was able to walk around and see the gorgeous house in person. Then we drove to the hotel to let the cat out of her carrier and we went to eat dinner. It doesn't sound like much happened but the drive took forever and my right bum cheek was really starting to hurt from sitting so long. I was the lucky individual that got to drive the cat to Fort Worth. We bought her a carrier that had a food and water tray inside and so I kept her in that during the drive. I've been really worried about her and I've been fretting over this day. Luckily, we were able to get a sedative for her. It wasn't exactly exciting giving the cat her pill but with 3 people we were able to do it. Surprisingly she handled the drive very well. She did meow a bit when we would drive on bumpy road but I'm glad she had the sedative. I'm sure the cat will be very happy when all the commotion is over and she can roam around the new house. Tomorrow will be another long day and I'm not looking forward to it. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight than I did last night.

Moving Day

Today was the last day that I will ever be in the house that I grew up in. My parents moved into my childhood home when I was 2 almost 3 years old and they lived in that house for about 25 years. Today was a very bittersweet day for our family. It's been a very stressful week with the movers being in our home and I think my whole family will concur that they are grateful that the packing process is over. Now we just have to deal with the long drive tomorrow and the whole "wonderful" unpacking process. I'm sure that I'll come back to my childhood home and do a drive-by when I'm showing my future husband where I grew up but this is how I want to remember my home! Please enjoy looking at the pictures of where I was raised!
Last but definitely not least, my bedroom!!
I must say that my mother decorated her house and I had nothing to do with any of the decor!! I will miss my home but I'm excited to live in a much newer one in a couple of days!

Last Day At Work

Today was my last day of work before the move. I figured it would be less stressful for me if I just took off work the week that we move so I can focus on packing and other moving stuff. Luckily my boss was able to secure me a position at a store in the Fort Worth area. I plan on starting my position at the new store a week after the move, resulting in two weeks of no pay. That's kinda gonna suck but I think it's for the best so that I can get adjusted and find my way around the area a little bit.
I figured that I'd be really emotional today, with it being my last day, but I surprisingly wasn't. I didn't shed a single tear like I thought I would. I think my most emotional day was Tuesday because it was my last day to work with my manager. When I arrived at work on Tuesday morning, my boss surprised me with an award....
Store Associate of the Year!!
I was really shocked to receive this award and I'm thrilled to know that my hard work is noticed and appreciated.I hope this means I'll get a good raise in March!!! I also received a paid day off along with this award.
It will give me great pleasure to pass this over to my new boss in Fort Worth as a kind of "brag" that I'm awesome! My boss also gave me a wrapped package of a Hershey Kiss crystal jar filled with kisses as a going away present from her and the rest of the store.
Everyone has told me how much I'm going to be missed and even my boss told me that I'm leaving REALLY REALLY REALLY big shoes to fill. This hasn't been the best paying job that I've ever had but I've really enjoyed working with the ladies that I worked with at this store. I'm really going to miss most of them too. I hope that I have as good a time at the new store and that I'll work with some really awesome people!

The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword CD - Gerudo Valley

This is one of my favorite songs on the 25th Anniversary CD that came with my Skyward Sword Wii game. I had hoped that I'd be able to post the whole playlist...but I guess it doesn't work that way....boo!! But I think you can click on a few after this one is over. This particular song is from Gerudo Valley which is in the Ocarina of Time Zelda game (my all time fave), which is probably the reason I love it so much! I'll post my other favorite song at a later date and time! Please Enjoy!

Perfect For Each Other

Remember that part in 101 Dalmatians where Pongo is talking about how dogs and their masters look alike or something along those lines?
On my way to work I drive past a veterinary clinic and I always see the vet techs walking the dogs on leashes while the dog does its "business." I couldn't help myself but yesterday I saw a vet tech accompanying a bull dog and I laughed and thought of this very moment in 101 Dalmatians. This vet tech looked exactly like the bull dog she was walking...not exactly a compliment for the vet tech but they lo
oked like they were perfect for each other. I know that technically she was not the master of this bull dog but I still thought of this. Here are some modern day comparisons! Enjoy!

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

My little brother is a HUGE video gamer dude and he has to buy every video game when it comes out. I've always loved to play video games too but I don't have the time to play when I'm working and going to school. The last thing I need is to get distracted from what is really important in my life. For the past little while my little brother has been texting me and asking if I've played the new Zelda game yet. Every time my answer was "NO" and that I didn't even know that a new game came out. I knew more about this kind of stuff when I was married because my ex-husband always kept me up to speed and informed. Anyway, my little brother has come to Texas to visit for a week before the move and he surprised me with a belated birthday present. Guess what it was? You got it...The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. I decided to start the game last night and I really enjoyed it. The Zelda games have always been one of my favorite Nintendo games because I just love the stories. Actually, the Ocarina of time is my absolute fave and I usually refuse to play anything Zelda that is not the Ocarina of time. When I was married my little brother bought us The Twilight Princess and I had a hard time getting into the game. It wasn't until after my divorce that I gave the game another try. To my surprise, I loved the game. I would love to play the game again sometime when I have time but right now I'm playing Skyward Sword. So far I'm enjoying the game and hopefully I can beat the game while my brother is still here. Most likely I won't because I have to work and get other things accomplished before I move IN 3 WEEKS but I'm going to try and get as far as I can.

Bring It

I really brought it yesterday at work with that magazine contest! The day started out slow and I was beginning to think that it would be impossible for me to get even one subscription. I was relieved when I finally got one. Then, a co-worker started her shift and she was determined to beat me. She got her first subscription early on in her shift. Oh no she didn't!!! I wasn't going to have any of that. It was absolutely amazing cause with the competition on, I really brought on my A-Game! I got 3 more subscriptions with the snap of my finger. I was amazed at how brilliant I did because I was only expecting to get one or two subscriptions because I was working a shorter shift. So I ended the day with 4 subscriptions and a total of 13 for the week. I'm proud of my first week on the competition. Hopefully I can do just as well this week or even better. It is possible that my co-worker beat me because she had 2 subscriptions when I left and she was working till 7:00 when I got off at 2:30. Even if she did beat me, I'm still proud of myself!

Feelin Alive

I like to take a multivitamin for women so I'm making sure my body is provided with vitamins that it needs. I usually just buy the cheap equate brand to save a few bucks but I saw a commercial for a multivitamin for women that provides energy. I've found that I need a boost in energy because I'm always tired and I don't particularly like to drink soda. I've never had an energy drink either and I don't really care to try one. So when I saw this commercial I thought I would give the multivitamin a try.
I took my first vitamin today and I was "feelin alive." I was full of so much energy today at work and I didn't have an ounce of caffeine. This boost in energy may have had nothing to do with the vitamin but I don't know what else would have done it.
I had a great day with magazine subscriptions....I got a total of 4 which is great for this semi slow business. So far I'm in a good position for this magazine contest and I hope that I can keep up the good work. I'm going to try and get at least one tomorrow because I work a shorter shift and won't have as many opportunities.

More Nancy Drew

So I've completed reading two more Nancy Drew books!
I can honestly say that I'm no longer ashamed to be reading these books because they really are good books. I can also say that they probably aren't for everyone either. I enjoy them because they are well written and clean. I have a friend that teases me and says that I enjoy the books because I wish I was born and lived in an earlier decade. That statement is definitely true to a certain extent. These books may have been written long before my time but I thoroughly enjoy the time period and the way of life. I've already started another book and I'm can say that I'm enjoying it just as much as the others. Someday when I have a little girl of my own, I'm going to make sure that she reads these books while she is young.
