Orange

My favorite color has been a deep shade of red for the last year or so, but lately I've become very fond of orange.  Orange has NEVER been a color that I've liked so I'm surprised that I like it as much as I do.  It's a very popular color this season and I'm seeing it everywhere.  I love it, especially the darker shade of orange seen in these flower petals.  Love it....reminds me of the sunset!

It's A Small World

Yesterday at work a customer came into the store and asked me if she could return an item she bought at a Palais Royal.  I told her that we could do the return for her and so she handed me the receipt.  While she was handing me the receipt she told me that she had been shopping in the Houston area.  I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if she shopped in my old store while she was in Houston?"  So she hands me the receipt and I take a look at the receipt.....What do ya know? She had been shopping in my old store.  There on the top of the receipt was my old store number, 194, with the name of my old manager.  I couldn't believe it.  What are the odds that this woman would have shopped at my old store in the Houston area and returned the item at the store in Fort Worth that I had transferred to!?  This is a small world we live in!

Spaghetti Dinner Scout Auction

Tonight my dad and I went to the Spaghetti Dinner Scout Auction for my parent's ward.  My dad has always had a passion for the scouting program and so he wanted to go to the auction and donate some money for the boys in their ward.  The spaghetti dinner was pretty good and it only cost us $5 a person.  After the dinner they had an auction for different desserts.  My dad went a little crazy and spent $65 between these 3 delicious desserts.
We aren't going to keep them all but my dad really wanted to support our troop!  We are going to give the cupcakes to some neighbors who are going to feed our cat while we're in Utah.  It was a really fun auction and I'm glad that I was able to go with my dad!

New Cell Phone Case

After I bought my new iPhone 4S, I decided that I needed a new cell phone case for it. Besides, my old iPhone case wasn't compatible with my new model. My old phone was more flat than the new one and I wanted something with a little more PIZAZZ anyway! I browsed the Internet and looked at some cases that were all bedazzled and then....I saw the ONE!!! It was perfect and I just had to have it. It's so me and it has just the right amount of glitz and glamor. I waited a week for it to arrive but it finally came last Saturday and I absolutely LOVE it! The model shows it with a black phone but it looks much better with my white one....so classy!

Did I say I LOVE my new phone?

Colleyville YSA Ward

Today I decided to be brave and I went to the Singles Ward for the area that I live in. I've lived in Fort Worth for a little over a month now and I'm pretty much settled in to my new home and I've been working at my job for several weeks now. I was able to get the information that I needed on the Singles Ward and went for it. I was scared because I really haven't been in a Singles Ward since about 2004 and so I was pretty freaked out. I went to a Singles Branch once when I was living in Houston and I absolutely hated it. My experience with going to the Branch was pretty bad and so I was hoping not to have a repeat of that experience when I went to the Ward today. I got lost a few times while I was driving to the building but I found it in the end. I'm happy to announce that I think I've found my ward. I had a great time with this ward and I think I'm really going to enjoy these people. I didn't talk to many people today but quite a few people came to talk to me and I was really grateful. There was one guy that came to talk to me right when I sat down in the chapel and I think he might be interested in me but it's still a little too early to tell. Besides, I just want to focus on making friends and getting to know the people in the Ward before I start dating anyone. I really just wanted to share that I tried it out and had a wonderful first experience.

Scentportable

Today my mom and I went SHOPPING!!! One of the stores we went to was Bath and Body Works and we both bought a SCENTPORTABLE for our cars. They have several different clip and go fragrance units to choose from and it was difficult picking just one. In the end I chose the strawberry but my mom's ladybug was super cute too! They also have several different fragrance refills to choose from as well. They had a sale where you could buy 4 for $20.00 or 6 for $24.00. I think my mom and I chose 6 things and split the cost. I was excited to get something cute for my car that will also make my car smell wonderful! I recommend that you all get one too!
You should check out the website and see the different fragrance units!

iPhone 4S

Today I bought a new iPhone 4S! I was so excited to buy a new phone that could do more stuff than my older iPhone. I'm both nervous and excited to use Siri. I haven't tried it yet because I've been busy downloading apps and getting my new phone in order. I was really nervous about today because I was worried that AT&T wouldn't let me get the new phone and keep my current plan. When I originally got my first iPhone with AT&T, they offered an unlimited data plan. Well, that plan is no longer available. To make an extremely long story short, I happened to notice that Sprint offered a totally unlimited everything plan for less than what I was paying at AT&T. So guess what? I switched over to Sprint and now I'll being saving $10 a month. It doesn't sound like much but I'm sure that 10 bucks will make a difference in the long run. It was quite the ordeal getting all my data transferred from my old phone to the new one (approximately 2 and a half hours of waiting in the Sprint store) but it finally got mostly accomplished. I did lose several pictures that were saved in a private vault app I had downloaded on the old phone, but it was probably for the best and probably about time that I let those pictures go anyway. Anywho, I'm excited to have my new phone and I hope that I won't have any problems with it. 2 of my siblings both have the iPhone 4S and we were able to use FaceTime and see each other while we talked on the phone with each other. It will be a good way for my parents to see their grandchildren while talking on the phone. Yeah!

Tornadoes and Hailstorms

If you've watched the news at all today you would know that there were at least 12 tornadoes that hit the Dallas/ Fort Worth area today. I was at work during the worst of the storms and it got pretty scary for a little while. It was around 2:00 when I got off my lunch break and saw that the sky was black as night outside and the rain was POURING down hard. There were rumors of hail and there was thunder and lightning. A couple of my co-workers were worried and called their homes to see what was happening on the news. Turns out the storms were kinda close but not close enough to harm us. On my drive home I saw this car while waiting at a red light. My guess is that the hailstorm damaged those windows. At work they were saying that the hailstorms this time of year can be pretty bad. Yipee!!
I watched the news when I got home from work and I can honestly say that I'm grateful that my brother in Dallas, my mom in Keller, my dad in Fort Worth, and me in Grapevine were safe today from the tornadoes and hailstorms.

Good Movie Weekend

I watched a few really good movies this weekend and I felt like sharing. I watched my first good movie yesterday after work. The Hunger Games: My brother invited me to go see the movie with him and a few of his friends, and I knew that I wouldn't get my parents to go see it with me so I decided to go with my brother. I thought that the movie was very well done. My brother had just finished reading the book that day and so everything was fresh in his mind. Out of the group of us, my brother was the most disappointed in the movie. He remembered stuff from the book that the rest of us had forgotten. Advice: Never read a book right before the movie comes out because more times than not you'll be disappointed. I'm not saying that he didn't enjoy the film, but he had way more complaints than the rest of us. For me, I thought they followed the book very well. However, I don't think that people can appreciate this movie if they haven't read the books. My brother thought that they botched the ending but I'm fine with it. I've also heard a bunch of people complain that the actress who played Katniss wasn't skinny enough for the part. Several people have complained about some of the other characters as well but I'm fine with the casting. I'm not super thrilled about Josh Hutcherson playing Peeta but maybe he'll beef up and grow taller than Jennifer Lawrence in the next film. Overall, Job well done. After the first session of conference my dad started watching The Karate Kid that came out in 2010. Jaden Smith, Will Smith's son, plays the little boy that takes karate lessons from....Jackie Chan!! I didn't watch the whole movie because I decided to eat my lunch outside and enjoy the warm weather, but the bits that I did watch were really good. I usually don't like to watch remake kind of movies but this one was really cute. It's not like the original from the 80's but it definitely has its similarities. I totally think that Jaden is super cute and I'm totally impressed with his work. He looks just like his daddy too. My dad recorded the movie and so I'll have to watch it from the beginning one of these days when I get off work.
I finally got around to seeing The Blind Side. I had wanted to see this movie when it came out but for some reason I never got around to it. About a month ago they advertised the movie on ABC and I decided to set it up to record. Long story short, I tried to record it twice and for some reason it would either not record or my parents would delete it. I finally told them not to delete it and that this was my third attempt at trying to see this movie. I watched it today after conference and I absolutely loved it. It's one of those feel good true stories that inspires you to be a better person. Words can not express my praise for this movie and I think I'm gonna need to buy this movie for my collection. I have decided to become a Ravens fan because of this story and I totally admire Sandra Bullock's character!

Lots of Good Movies This Weekend!
